After, we took the s-bahn to the Berlin Wall Memorial, where part of the Berlin Wall still stands, reminding Berliners of their life when the city, and the country, was split in two. Having talked with our South Korean roommate, we understand that even today, families are kept apart, walls and fortifications are built to keep people from moving freely between countries. Busy, busy day in Berlin today. The weather finally got nice, and we took full advantage of it, gallivanting across Berlin with the help of a day pass for the transit system. Started our day by taking an air raid shelter tour put on by a local company that clears out old underground sites and restores them to the historical conditions. Luckily enough, the Batmobile was right across the street from the Tiergarten's Soviet War Memorial which, though cool and having two artillery pieces and two tanks, pales in comparison with the one we saw yesterday. Also saw the Reichstag on our way back to the hostel. Phenomenal building. Planning to book a tour for Saturday or Sunday.
