A relaxed afternoon of sightseeing for us today. Wolfgang drove us into Munster, the closest large town to Ludinghausen, and one with history stretching back to the medieval period and beyond. We went for some excellent pizza before Wolfgang showed us a number of local churches, the Rathaus (town hall), where the treaty to end the Thirty Years War was signed in the 17th century, as well as the botanischer garten, and the university where he went to school. Enjoyed a cappuccino before a nice scenic drive back to Ludinghausen.
Back in Ludinghausen, Wolfgang showed us where the last witch was burned in 1649, as well as the town mill, the other remaining castle, and the town's history fountain. Finally, we got to see the town's beautiful sandstone church. A good day in the Munsterland!
