Rainy in Marseilles this morning. Planning on heading to the fort guarding the port today, as well as the Chateau d'If.. If you don't know about the Chateau d'If, it's where Edmond Dantes was imprisoned in The Count of Monte Cristo, written by Victor Hugo. Last night, we hiked up to near the Notre Dame de Marsailles, which is a beautiful church on top of a hill overlooking the whole city and the Mediterranean. Amazing view from up there, even if it was a bit overcast.
Going to try to see as much of the city as we can, in spite of our time constraints and in spite of the wet weather. What's funny is that although it's raining out, Marseilles feels less damp than Barcelona, where my clothes took forever to dry after washing them. Here, my towel dried overnight.
