We've arrived in south Goa and are staying at Agonda White sands resort which is a little slice of paradise.
Our accommodation is a little cottage made out of dried palm leaves and wood, it has a bowl of water with petals in it at the steps to the cottage- to wash the sand of your feet before you go in, a terrace with a table and two chairs and an ornate wooden door with beautiful golden door fittings- real attention to detail here. On opening the door there is a large double bed with a big mosquito net around it- the hut is open around the sides in some places so this is definitely needed to keep out the mossies! There is a door leading out to a bathroom which is outside and has a shower and looking up to the palm trees and coconuts, really nice.
The resort is beautiful, no pool but it's right on the beach front and we can see the sea from our cottage and we are close to the bar which was obviously planned. Just a short few steps away from the amazing cocktails!
Last night we stayed at the resort, we bumped into the family from olaulim which was nice. Violet who was all dressed in a nice cream lace skirt plonked herself in the sand and began pouring sand over herself, she then grabbed a massive handful and shoved it in her mouth, I could hear her crunching it was so disgusting but she wouldn't spit it out! She seemed to really enjoy it, anyone would think we are not feeding her! Totally gross.
There was a bbq on the beach, chefs in hats over a big BBQ and a tank full of fresh fish, prawns and lobsters. After violets dinner of chips, sand and ice cream she went to sleep so we had a rare chance of a relaxing dinner! We chose a candle lit table at the very edge of the resort, closest to the sea and we had two big prawns, jacket potato, chips and salad. Shared a warm chocolate brownie and ice cream for dessert and washed it all down with several cocktails- strawberry daiquiris which are amazing! Pina colada, and a watermelon fizz..... I fell asleep in my chair after dinner- its that peaceful. On returning to the room I came across a cat with her four new little kittens sitting on the chair on our terrace, so cute!
I woke first as standard and went to sit outside for a coffee but Violet woke up and wanted to come with me! (So much for sneaking off!) so we sat near the sea and Violet had scrambled egg on toast and pineapple juice. There were lots of cows and dogs and birds on the beach so we walked over to take a look, one of the staff told me that there were dolphins spotted near the shore line yesterday... I kept an eye out but none seen today! Maybe tomorrow....
After Davidson woke we ordered breakfast, d had scrambled eggs and salmon and I had a apple and potato rosti with spinach and eggs- both at around £2.80 each. I ordered a lemon and cardamon Lassi, this was one of the nicest drinks I have ever had and definitely going to be having another tomorrow!
We walked along the road afterwards popping in to some of the stalls, we treated ourselves to a pedicure each which was very relaxing! D debated getting some colour on his but then just played it safe with a clear varnish! I think he knew I would tell you all otherwise I'm sure he would have gone for slut red too!
We then had henna tattoos, we want to get Violet one but I doubt she will sit still long enough.... Maybe when she's asleep! Watch this space! D chose a peacock design so I got a similar design too- only afterwards did he tell me it had something to do with Leeds football club! Errrghhh- these things last for two weeks! That made d chuckle as you can imagine.
There are loads of places to do your washing around here for between 10-20p per item! Not bad! Saves ds fair hands from hand washing! Haha
It doesn't feel particularly Christmassy here, there arent any decorations and no Christmas music playing which is weird but it's amazingly relaxing.
We are looking forward to going to midnight mass tonight, there's a church down the road so that's the plan but like most years by the time midnight comes we are a little merry so don't go! Let's see how the night goes!
Not the most exciting of posts I know but this place is so relaxing it's hard to write anything other than chilledness.....
Merry Christmas Eve to everyone, we miss you all X
