So my first month is nearly done and I can't believe how quickly it has gone by! Settled in really well and the rest of the volunteers are lovely. This month has mainly consisted of finding my barings not only within the childrens home, but also outwith. I have joined a local gym, about 400m down the road which also has free internet access which is why I have managed to keep in contact with you all so much! With the help of all the other volunteers Myself and Annabel have managed to have our fair share of nights out in the local pubs (Babushka, Rabbit Hole, Blizzards, but sadly not Sones... Yet!) And managed to sample some of the best local meat around, Mazoli's, which holds excellent braii's( barbeque's to all those back home).
Weather has been unreal hot into the 30c's intill today.. when we FINALLY had a bit of rain, well, more like a monsoon. Good thing about it was that it came alongside wicked thunderstorms! Sadly, I had to watch from the comfort of the house I was doing nightshift in. Today, I finally managed to get some tan lines, and yes, they may be extremely faint and only seen if you look extremely close but its a start to my paisty skin!
On the touristy front, I havnt managed to do much as of yet, been into capetown a fair few times to see the markets and various other things. Also V&A Waterfront, a large commercialised area which had many things to do such as boat rides to rode island, helicopter tours and safari's, which i hope to get some time to do.
Got a weekend off this weekend which is jammed packed! Heading to Plettenberg bay(or there abouts) on saturday to do the worlds highest bungee jump! I am obviously extremely scared, but the adreneline rush will be completely worth it! Sunday night me and Annabel planned to climb lions head at sunset, which is ment to be lovely! Anyway Thats all i have been up to really! Over and out! x
