So last morning in Dunedin..
Went to down to the Harbour (middle of industrial estate but the having lived in port cities most of my life I felt the need to see it) - just some old guys fishing! Then wandered off to get a coffee followed by some picnic bits for my journeys ahead, also managed to book my transalpine and transcoastal tickets today (special summer deals meaning I saved $250!) and visited the Otago settlers museum - where the conservator in me spotted active woodworm in a display case and had to go tell the staff.... (i really need a life!) Also discovered that after queen victoria number two for sculptures of british people around the world is robert burns?!?!
Went to the Temple Gallery, a converted synagogue which just made the most beautiful display area - there was also a very cool red velvet shark with metal eyes and teeth! Then lunch and back to the YHA for my lift to the train station for the Taieri Gorge railway and then coach journey to Queenstown. I've been told I have to go drink lots of Otago red wine - something I think I may just about manage even with my early morning coach to Franz Josef tomorrow!
