So some of you may already have seen that after 30 hours, 3 flights and 5 meals i'm now in NZ!
Spent yesterday wandering around and visiting galleries (beautiful cibachromes warping horribly after being screwed to the wall - the sad life of a conservation scientist) and museums (like museums used to be all dusty old cases and examples of types and just perfect because of it) then getting an early night (sleeping for 10 hours thats almost a record for me!). Although i'm not sure what it says about a town if the most photographed building is the railway station (see above)?!
On the way to the conference I thought I'd grab breakfast so asked if they did toast to take away, expecting hot buttered toast in a paper bag I was rather bemused to received 3 rounds of toast with 3 little pots of butter and a plastic knife all cling wrapped to a paper plate - close but not quite!
Today was the first day of the conference which included a opening talk from the misister of agriculture which the chair then opened to questions - I can't imagine any UK MP being brave enough to do that - especially when the lady sheep farmer with 100 years family history got a bit john humphreys on him!
Thought it was hilarious that 2009 is the UN year of the natural fibre but have discovered that the UN have a year of every year and was entertained to learn that last years was the potato!!!!!
Was going to jive tonight but the day over ran and as i'd not eaten that put paid to that! hopefully later in the trip i'll manage it...
