So another early alarm call and then a bus to Napier, but as it was pouring with rain and very windy in Wellington I was rather glad to be off (although I did really like it). The coach driver was silent the whole way here (hurrah it is possible) and we arrived 45 min early too. So I had plenty of time to grab lunch (steak pie, crisps, juice, apple and museli bar and I'm still skinny!) and then head to the art deco centre for a walking tour of Napier. Weather today in Napier has been glorious sunshine and very warm too which is perfect for a seaside town. (think the fabulous hotel at morecambe but without the tat and better weather and beach) The town is almost entirely art deco in style and so sweet - I'd like to move here immediately please?! Waiting for the walk the lady showed me pictures of their deco weekends - Em I think we should come (feb or july) they dress up in vintage all weekend (including furs and a jazz festival in the july one) with all the cars etc looks hilarious and its quite close to LA (comparatively!).
Walk was great opportunity to be a proper tourist and take snaps of the buildings (& then the beach on the way back) but have realised that its sunday and lots of places don't open for dinner sundays!!! so am about to go in search of food! Sadly i'm not here for long and off again at lunch tomorrow :-(
(note the pictures of the vineyards is because Napier is in the Hawke's Bay region one of NZs biggest wine producing areas but sadly no time for a wine tour - next time!)
has been for dinner - i was right sunday closure distinctly limited choice - so steak was the only option (hard life) followed by passionfruit ice cream sundae! yummy yummy :-)
