So today was cellulose fibres (including the sermon on bamboo which at the end concluded with but these are all manufacturers claims and require research to prove...) odd but interesting
went for my tourist photo opportunity this afternoon at the worldest steepest st naturally i'm too lazy to bother to climb it so you'll all be proud to know i walked to the bottom (which is flat) took some photos looking upwards and walked back to the afternoon lecture
then quick change and back to the museum for dinner
dinner was lovely however it was followed by a toast to the queen (traditional apparently) and then a rendition of illkley moor bar tat by the senior members of the textile institute in both NZ and Australia (no i have no idea why either but its also traditional?!?!)
one of yesterdays chairs then decided to add other cultural songs to this...
so started to request songs including the bamboo student and a traditional bangladeshi song (much more beautiful than the earlier rendition) a maori song and the aussies doing waltzing matilda
then he insisted there had to be cultural dancing...
having already politely refused to sing (lets face it I can't) and tell a joke, I decided this was definitely the time to leave and politely made my exit
so just tomorrow (& my talk) to go...
then i'm off on holiday for 2 whole weeks (how did that happen and why am I still stressing about just how much work I've left behind?) these and other ponderings to be addressed over the coming days (note this is not a guarantee that such topics will be addressed!)
