Friday 20th August

Today we were 'Shipwrecked'! We took the most amazing private lagoon cruise with a great tour guide called Ron to explore some of the other motus (smaller islands) surrounding Aitutaki - including those used in two of our favourite tv shows Shipwrecked and Survivor!!

We were picked up from our accommodation this morning at 9am and started out on our private lagoon tour with Ron. We discovered he had also worked on Shipwrecked and Survivor, and was heavily involved with the crew, show producers and contestants. He had loads of really interesting stories to tell! He took us to One Foot Island, where we saw a remote tiny post office, and explored. This was where lots of the challenges on Survivor were filmed. Then we took the boat to the two islands used in Shipwrecked Battle of the Islands (and Shipwrecked and Survivor), where we were able to see where the contestants lived and built their camps. It was great fun!

After returning from our amazing tour we went for lunch by scooter to the brilliant Koru Cafe, and we then went for a dip in the beautiful surrounding lagoon. For our evening meal we went back to the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort for another lovely meal, with the most beautiful sunset (see the attached picture).

It's our last full day tomorrow and we're looking forward to some more relaxation time!
