After a weeny lay in (7am has become a lay in!) we all got up and sorted our beach stuff before almost skipping down to breakfast! Today was sailing day. Awesome. The weather was perfect although a little less wind than we needed but it wasn't raining. All we've heard since we started in Darwin is how lucky we've been with the weather. The bad patch must have either gone or is waiting for us down the coast as recently they've had so much rain everywhere.
Anyway, counting our blessings we boarded the tender to take us over to the catamaran. Wow. Once onboard we were off - a day sailing in paradise. It was so calm and peaceful, with a breeze to take the edge off the heat. The islands are beautiful, so pretty. We sailed round Cook Island, Whitsunday Island and Hamilton Island amongst. The bar opened at 11am and so the drinking began - all food and drink were included on the trip. We stopped at Whitehaven Beach which is absolutely stunning. Fools Gold was set there too, not the Caribbean as some people think. We took loads of pictures, wrote stuff in the sand (so cliché but had to be done) and took a walk and a paddle before sunbathing. While we were on the beach, the crew were cooking our BBQ lunch on the boat. We soon polished that off and carried on drinking and sailing, drinking and sailing. We actually managed to shut the engines off by the afternoon and finally sail under wind power on its own. It was so peaceful and relaxing. When we got back to the resort we all jumped in the pool for a swim before grabbing something to eat and heading to bed. Who knew paradise could be so tiring!.....
