As we drove east through Slovenia on our way to Trieste in Italy we again agreed to avoid motorways. We were rewarded with a drive through some stunning scenery. We climbed, and climbed on a slow, windy road to the top of some mountains where we found snow. As we crossed over the peaks we could look down and see the vast coastal plain leading to Trieste.
Our campsite is about 10k north of Trieste. The weather was superb; summer had returned. Ok, not with the same temperatures as before but we had a cloudless sky and about 20C - that suited us fine!
Just beside our site was a coastal walk about 4k along the cliff top over looking the bay of Trieste. Again, the scenery was stunning.
After lunch in a rather chic (far too good for me) harbour-side restaurant, where we had the best pasta with tomato sauce we had ever had, we visited an old castle (as usual a waste of money) and returned along the path to the Guzzler (who has sucked Europe almost dry of fuel).
Tomorrow we return to Slovenia to visit the Lake Bled area which we are told is stunning. Everything is crossed for fine weather.

Nick Hi everyone, Sarahleen are you tracking us from Namibia, how are things going with you? Geoff, yes Slovenia is lovely, what's all this c**p about me stepping aside? Wiggy, of course we're c**p at sport, that's what we're best at! Great to hear from you all, this is a great trip looking forward to seeing everyone again soon. Nick and Jax
Rocky & Sarah Are you still speaking to each other? Remember when driving in Italy just ignore all the rules and drive as fast as you like, as long as you don't run out of fuel!
Mum Hi Nick It looks like you are enjoying yourselves, plenty of food and wine. I look forward to the next update. Keep a check of how much it is costing you, i will be interested to find out. Mum
Margaret Blowey Hi Nick & Jaqui. Thanks, I am enjoying your photos & the Blog. It snowed on the mountains in Scotland whilst up there last week. Take care. Auntie Marg B.
