Hit Prague around midday on Saturday. Having sorted out our campsite which was around 10km outside Prague we caught a train into the city.
I am surprised they let us in because Prague was full! I have never seen so many tourists in a city - and this was October. God knows what it was like in August!
The city has become a complete tourist centre (except for the fact that 'Tourist Information' centres shut at weekends?????). Everywhere are souvenirs, art, trinkets, cafes, restaurants and tourists - thousands and thousands of tourists! Seriously it is a shame because what was once a fantastic city (I was here in 2002) has now sold its soul for tourist cash. The buildings are still beautiful, and it is still a lovely city, as long as you can get to see it through the wall of humans.
Anyway, we did Prague. It was good but it could have been better. I would advise anyone considering a visit to come in the winter. The city is different then. It has a crisp winter coldness to it instead of the heat we experienced. And the main benefit is that most of the tourists will be at home awaiting next years summer season. So don't cross it off your list, just choose your travel time with care.
Tomorrow we are off early again. We had planned to go straight to Bratislava in Slovakia. However, instead we have decided to travel "off motorway" and split the journey, so we are heading for western Austria for a stop-over before moving on to Bratislava the following day.
