First two notes:
1. This is the first campsite we have had WiFi on (and they only got it 2 weeks ago) so the blogs will be a little spread.
2. It would appear (having taken ages to upload them) that this site does not like portrait style pics and just cuts them off, so apologies.
Anyway trip to ramsgate was ok. Stopped off at Canterbury o "kill a priest" (no this is not an euphemism) but it would have cost us £20 to get into the cathedral so we gave it a miss.
First nights sleep was, let's say, "experimental", but we got through it. Arriving at the ferry terminal it seemed that we were the only two cars on the trip (see photo evidence). Also we were told that the company bused to have "two ships" but they "lost one" and are "looking for another one". Can't say it filled me with confidence.
We were greeted on board by a man with a heavy Russioan accent who told us "ship will have delay of perhaps half an hour; we have small problem with engine". This did nothing to reassure us.
On the way through Belgium we stopped off at Ghent. Once we had negotiated the traffic, and found a parking space, it seemed only right that we should sample the Belgian delicacy - no not chocolate, Chips & Mayonnaise.
Stopped for the evening in the forest of the Ardennes at a campsite where we were the only residents.
Next day we headed towards Franfurt. All was well until, as we apprached the Rhine, Tom Tom came up with the following,"after 200 metres turn right, then take the ferry". "Ferry!" I shouted, "What bloody ferry?"
Anyway, we took the ferry as instructed and spent the night on the banks of the Rhine.
Next morning we headed for Nurmberg. Guzzler was still drinking fuel like John Mills swigged down his cold beer in "Ice Cold in Alex" (for you film buffs).
Nurmberg is a lovely city; so much so we extended our stay from one night to two. Visited the Dokumentstationszentrum. This is a huge construction started by Hitler but never finished. It was his intention to hold all his rallies here as Nurmberg was a favourite city of his. Also visited Court 600 which was the ctual courtroom where the Nurmberg Trials took place. I cannot express in words how eerie it was as the history hit you right between the eyes.
Tomorrow we leave early and set off to Prague for a couple of nights. Hopefully we will have some more WiFi for me to keep this blog more regular.
