Nat and Beck Go Large!
After a big night out on Friday, Becky and Shaun were too pathetic to go and watch the match! After finally managing to muster the strength to move, Nat and Lenny went to Paddy Maguire's - then came back because Len had left his ID - then to Scruffy Murphy's to watch the mighty reds! They made it in time for the second half, and luckily for the bouncers they never switched it off this time.
Yesterday morning we were rudely awakened by an extremely 'intoxicated' Kate and Anna doing a lovely rendition of Jimmy Somerville's greatest hits. Were you in the Reflex girls? We think so! Booze Britain has nothing on you two! We were told by a reliable source that Anna had to be put in a Taxi and sent home - can't believe that, Anna is usually so restrained!
In the afternoon we went to Manly Beach, you have to go down to the by the Opera house and take the ferry to get there. It was a really lovely day and the sun was shining over the opera house, as you move away from the quay you can take really take in how lovely the Sydney skyline is. Becky was sitting back chilling, taking in the sun and loving every minute of being on the boat - Nat was sat with her head between her legs trying not to retch - it took her a while to get her land legs back on the other side! When we arrived at the other side of the harbour there was the tiniest beach you have ever seen - we all sort of stood around looking at each other until Len (bright spark that he is) asked some Aussie bloke to point us in the direction of the real beach.
Spent a lovely few hours relaxing on the beach reading, chatting and generally trying not to go home whiter than we came. Went to the supermarket for a few bits before hopping on the ferry back - we sat inside this time so Nats tummy wasn't turning too much!
Nat and I were put in charge of dinner, and the boys took the booze sitch firmly into hand. Baked potatos, bolognaise and salad with a side order of two huge boxes of wine (1 white and 1 red, something for all tastes - so long as you don't actually have any taste buds!). We were informed on several occassions during the night that they had gone upmarket for us - I mean 7 quid for a 4 litre box of wine instead of the usual 3 quid box is a big dent in the budget. Had a couple of drinks next door (room 206 - which has now been turned into a song with the best and most professional music video you have ever seen!) where several new Olympic events were created using just a box of fags and a box of wine! We then moved downstairs to the front step so as not to upset our roomies too much. You're not really allowed to drink in the street, so the cardboard had to be removed from the boxes of wine and the foil bags stashed in our handbags for safe keeping. After about an hour, and 65 renditions of 'team 206' we marched en masse to Scruffy Murphy's. It all got a bit messy from there on in!
Tomorrow the plan is to go and see the Kylie exhibition thats been going around Oz. Nat has just nearly had heart failure 'cos we thought it was in Melbourne and might have missed it if she hadn't have checked the website! Phew!!!!
Lots of love, Beck and Nat
