Nat and Beck Go Large!
As predicted, on Tuesday night, we sat on our fat bums and caught up on The O.C. - soooo exciting! (really was though, well thought Trey would die!) We had a well earned lie-in on Wednesday, before we psyched ourselves up to go shopping. Had THE best day! Beck finally got a new pair of jeans which are not baggy around the crotch, plus a new bag (so she's not carrying the sad effort from Thailand around anymore!), 2 tops and a pair of sunnies, while I restricted myself to a few beads and a pair of shoes...they did have $60 knocked off, I couldn't resist! Sure they'll fit in the backpack once we get rid of Tom's trainers. We then faced our hairdresser phobias and went to get our hair cut. There was a few hairy moments when the girl started rough-drying Beck's hair, and I was nearly having fringe issues, but then the straighteners and the razor scissors came out and all was ok.
We went out to Side Bar underneath our hostel that night to roadtest the new hairdos, shoes and jeans. Few drinks later, we ended up in Scruffy Murphy's with Catriena from our dorm, watching the Red Hot Mini Peppers. Check out the photo of the bass player...he's a beauty, but that's no excuse for sewing multiple Disney characters onto one's pants. We ended up underneath Scruffy's in some random nightclub that stunk of hairspray - very random! Stumbled out at stupid o'clock, and sat outside our hostel eating chicken kebabs...never again! Kebabs are wrong!
Needless to say, we didn't do much the next day, apart from shop for food. Would like to add at this point that I've cooked 4 meals in the last 3 days, so Becky isn't the only culinary genius on this trip! Another night in front of the tv last night, all in preparation for the sightseeing mission today.
We've seen quite a lot today, especially since we didn't leave the hostel til 3pm. Walked up to Sydney Harbour, and saw the bridge and the Opera House. Not as sparkly as we hoped it would be, but was a very dull day today, so perhaps it will sparkle more when the sun comes out. We then walked back though the Botanical Gardens (very quick visit, didn't want to be attacked by sandflies again!), home to a million bats, and Hyde Park, and saw various government buildings along the way. All in all, a very cultural day!
P.S. Mission for those at home...please find somewhere at home that stocks Tim Tams...the best biccies in the world!! We think we're addicted! xxxx
