Nat's Journey
Have returned to Creil after spending 3 days on the Picardy "coast" with other language assistants. It was fantastic to meet people from all over the globe: there were English assistants from England, Ireland, Wales, America, Canada (and of course, Australia!); Spanish assistants from Mexico, Bolivia, and lots of other countries. I think all the German assistants came from Germany; they pretty much stuck to themselves.
I made a few friends, which was fantastic: Willie the gay American from Kentucky, Katie from Seattle and Andrew from Sydney (found an Aussie!). They are all living nearby, which made me very happy.
I have also made friends with Eufemia, who is our school's Spanish assistant. She comes from Bolivia, which is apparently the cheapest country in the world, so she thinks everything here is SO expensive. After Sydney, I am not too surprised. Actually, my rent is much cheaper than I expected, so I might be able to travel a bit more than I thought.
Weather here has turned a bit gloomy, although it has been very mild so far (even light jacket rarely required). Last night we had a sudden downpour, which was bizarre - it was accompanied by lightning and thunder as well.
Will start 2 weeks of observation on Monday before I begin my work; then I only have one week of class before holidays (yay!).
I haven't decided where to go yet; that will depend on where the others want to go =)
