Sarah's Australia Trip
SYDNEY
Made it to sydney without too much trouble. very reluctant to unpack my suitcase but it had to be done to get at anything at all.
Flight was ok, short which was helpful. I saw the opera house from the plane and was fairly unimpressed. thought it would be much bigger. maybe i was just a long way away.
Got a taxi to the hostel. as i was aware that the nunnery is by common consent the best hostel in the world, i was prepared for this one to be a bit manky. its not too bad, and its in a good place. And there is free internet access here which is better than at the nunnery.
I think i prefer melbourne by far. its cleaner and friendlier than sydney. Have walked around for a few hours. accidently bought a book. i think my body is somehow drawn to bookshops. i dont know how else it could have happened again.
Stopped myself buying another pair of shoes (mite get them in the week, theyre really cheap. but they may not fit in my suitcase. we'll see.
I met a nice scruffy black dog. Was quite friendly, but also the smelliest mutt i have ever come across. think i only patted it once and my hand smelled til i found somewhere to wash it.
Started reading it in a coffee shop with a hot chocolate, occasionally watching the odd people go by. for example, one fella walked past me wearing a bright pink top, bright yellow shorts, and knee-high blue and white stripey socks, with red shoes. And he had put a tie round his head instead of his neck. Could only assume the poor lad had never learned to dress himself. and perhaps has no mirrors or light in his house.
Will find hillsongs tomorrow. there is a courtesy bus from somewhere so will write it all down and then find where it is. u dont need to book 4 sunday nights. but i think there mite be a meeting of somesort tomorrow. but will find it so i know where it is for sunday - very excited!!
Will go to the harbour, opera house, bondi beach etc in the week.
