It is almost the end of the long Easter weekend and I am almost at the end of the chocolate egg I am eating...
Good Friday and Easter Saturday were days of relaxation for me here. Friday night my Godmother's son and I went to see Sarah Millican perform in the city as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The festival runs from March 27th to April 21st and celebrates everything funny.
We got into the city with 15 minutes to find the venue. I had been told online of one venue but actually it was somewhere different! Thankfully we made it in time; the show was brilliant and even the Australian I was with thought the Pom funny!
Easter Sunday was a bit busier: I got up for church on the Sunday morning having scouted around for one with my Godmother. St John's Anglican Church took me right back to my Anglican church in England and made me feel quite at home (well apart from the aussie accents). There were screens to read everything from so we didn't have our heads down in books, and a band with plenty of brass to give the songs some umph.
After church my Godmother's sons and I had to hunt round with 'hotter' and 'colder' to find our big Easter eggs that had been hidden in the living room, then we had to collect up all the little eggs before we headed off to Grandma's for afternoon tea.
After our fill of tea and cake we all headed off to a celebratory meal at one of my Godmother's friends house whom are almost like family. It was a big party to celebrate the engagement of a couple within this family with pre-dinner drinks and a buffet bbq meal. There were so many new faces and names to learn and I spent some time working out how people were related to one another. It was pretty special as the oldest there was 95 and her great grandaughter was there who is three, so four generations had gathered for the event.
One guy there told me about his cafe, Tunnelvision, which he set up a few months ago in an underpass in Tasmania. He gets about 600 people walk past his cafe during rush hour in the morning and knows 100 of their names so far. He showed me some pictures and told me how he is hoping to get some heaters put up on the wall for winter. I asked if he had any other plans and said he wanted to convert an old toilet building into a coffee shop called 'Taking the Piss'! No joke though it may sound crazy but it sounds like he offers some awesome food; it makes me want to go all the way to Tassy just to take a peek.

Easter Monday was back dooing work here at my Godmother's house as we prepare the vegetable plots for planting. I planted a load of strawberries so the pressure is on that they don't die... We stayed up late last night watching 'The Intouchables' a fabulous, hilarious movie about a rich quadraplegic and his unconventional carer, it's definitely a must-see.
Now just one week to go until I fly off to Fiji! Happy Easter all!
