I've been a bit slack with the writing, Let's see, where was I up to last time?
Classes. They've started and the first assignment is due tomorrow. They don't mess around here. We even have homework. What even is that? Obviously need it with my bad grammar there.
Tuesday night we had a Picnic with our Buddies - free food! Then afterwards there was the Activities Fair where we got to sign up to clubs that we were interested in.
The Outing Club is amazing out here. The perfect way to see all of what is around us. The night after the Activities Fair a few of us joined the club in a night hike. It was freezing when we reached the top but we got given free Hot Chocolate.
At the top there was a fire tower that we climbed up to look at the view. At the top you could see lights off in the distance and we were 90% sure that it was Canada. Canada is about an hour and a half drive from here and we had driven an hour already to get out to the mountain to hike.
Over the weekend we went kayaking. That was awesome. We spent about two hours on the water. Paddled out to a rope swing, had a bit of fun and then came in for a quiet night. It had been a big week.
Saturday I went with my roommate in the Float Fest. We bought a bunch of floaties and spent two hours, in the middle of the day I'm gonna add, floating down Raquette River. It was so shallow that when I fell off my floatie I ended up walking in the water for a bit.
That night we had a party at our place. First time playing Flip Cup and I did alright, I think. Maybe not, not too sure how you tell. Then, on my Australian ID I got entry into one of the night clubs here in town and danced the night away with the other exchange friends. It wasn't the greatest club but it was an amazing thing to experience.
It was a typical student filled, small-town club that had no reason to attract tourists like ones that you would normally go in, in busy cities.
Then Sunday morning, we got up at 8am to spend the day out Rock Climbing at a place called 'SoCo'. I honestly can't remember what that is short for.
That night, the Australian exchange students went into town to McDuffs for burgers and a nice evening before coming home to bed after a big weekend of swimming, drinking and sunburns.
This week I have to do most of my work before Friday because I'm off to Toronto and Niagra Falls with four other girls. Then in two weekends time my roommate has invited me to Vermont - her hometown - for Tractor-Poles/Tractor-Pull/Tractor-Pool. I can't understand with her accent what she's saying exactly with that second word. But I'll get her to write it down so I can let you know!
