A Semester Overseas
Yesterday was very warm and sunny out so Becky, my friend Eileen, and I decided to visit the zoo at the Schonbrunn Palace gardens. I put lots of pictures up so check them out! It is still very warm here which is weird because I am used to it being cold by now in Ithaca.
The gardens of the palace are beautiful. There are many mazes and labryinths and fountains. We walked up the hill to the very back of the gardens to the "Gloriette" which is where Maria Theresa used to make her servants carry her to eat her breakfast. At the top of the hill is a beautiful view of the city. There is also a palm house which is a green house with a vast collection of exotic plants- (see photos). I didn't go inside the palace - I will have to come back another day to take a tour of the palace because it was such a nice day outside I wanted to spend more time exploring the gardens.
On friday I taught my first class for my teaching internship! It was so much fun! I didn't think I would have so much fun teaching. In the first class I had 10 yr olds and they were so enthusiastic about learning english and they were very excited to meet me. In the second class I had 13 yr olds who presented reports to me about British school systems and I helped them with pronunciations and asked them questions and helped the teacher grade them. It's very different in Austria because they announce the student's grade to the whole class so everyone knows what you got on a test or project. But the competition is not as tough here as it is in the US so they don't mind that grades are not kept secretive. After class I got to drink coffee and eat cookies in the teacher's lounge and talk with the other teachers and discuss what to prepare for our next class. I am doing a presentation on "Unsolved Mysteries" which I am very excited for! I can't wait until my next class!
I also put up pictures from Budapest- I will be putting up the journal entry for that soon! I am trying to post as much as I can but since I've been more busy lately it has been hard. I miss everyone back home!
