We had breakfast at the hotel this morning. Then we loaded the school bus and were off to visit three schools in the area of Mazatlan. The first school was a pallet school with pressed cardboard roof and wooden slats for the walls. It is in an area where public funding for schools is not yet provided. The school is run by parents and volunteer teachers. The parents were preparing a good lunch for the students when we visited.
We then went to another school which was an elementary school that had minimal supplies. Then off to another school in the city where the school is looking for computers. The purpose of our visits was to get an idea of the challenges faced by the students on a daily basis and to consider what we could do in the future to assist them.
We were then treated to an outdoor lunch at the aquarium and a sea lion show.
Then Murray, Felix and Harm worked with the Bomberos to provide training on the Telesquirt in the parking lot across from the aquarium.
In the evening, our bus picked us up and delivered us downtown for a delicious supper with the Mayor and his wife.
Tomorrow is a busy day.
