This morning we travelled by school bus to the Aqua Marine Hotel for an early Rotary meeting at Pepesan's Rotary Club.We received a warm welcome at the Club.It was an opportunity to meet everybody and make presentations to members of the Club for their support of the Rotary to Mexico project.
Then it was away on the school bus for a tour of the city.We went to the north part of Mazatlan which is under a construction boom. There are hotels and condos popping up where ranches formerly existed. It is just about 20 km from the downtown to the north part of Mazatlan developments.
Then we went back into the city for some great views from Signal Hill.
We then went to City Hall to meet with the Mayor and his wife- who is the head of social services. We provided social services with several hockey bags full of new clothing. The mayor welcomed the group in his office and discussed the importance of our project.
We then were offered lunch at a great restaurant in the downtown square.
Carla then took Murray, Vic, Harm, Felix and Duncan back to the Hotel so as we could change our clothes to go and train the fire department and check out the Grande Prairie Fire Truck to make sure the pump was satisfactory.
We picked up the trucks and went to the port area where there was a good hydrant. We provided training in truck maintenance, ladder operations, truck operations, pumping, foam and lastly a little bit of tower operations. The bomberos are very quick learners. We all enjoyed the evening with the bomberos. We will be back with them tomorrow for more training.
Then it was back to the hotel for a late refreshment and late shrimp supper.
