1 day and 1 night camping in the Okavango Delta.
Picked up from camp at 7.30 on a truck which looked like something used in concentration camps.
Arrived at poling station and loaded tents and cooking equipment onto mokoras and set off into the delta.
Being paddled through the Delta and hearing the reeds scraping past the boat was so relaxing, could almost fall asleep.
Took us an hour and a half to reach camp, would of happily spent a few more hours on the delta in the mokoras.
Set up camp and headed for a swim in the delta, no crocs or hippos in this pool.
The water level is pretty low in the summer, less than a meter deep.
High levels are in the winter.
Messed about in the pool, attempting to build human pyramids. Managed to get 3 levels high.
Me and Rogan on the base, Matt and lee in the middle and Ana on top. Might see a photo on the blog at some point.
Too hot in the delta between midday and 4 to do much so lazed about camp and had a go at poling not as easy as it looks quite difficult to turn!
Went for a walk around the island looking for game but only found zebra and a lot of termite mounds and ant eater holes.
Tomorrow we take the mokoras back to the poling station and a flight over the delta
