As we were getting started for the long trek up to Cachora, we heard a huge landslide on the other side of the river. It was close to the bridge but did not spill to the path. So no one was in the way. We hiked up, but always looking up and listening carefully for any rock fall or landslide...
The weather was changing, with more sun than the other days, and the path seemed drier. I took numerous photos of clouds and mountains.
We finally arrived in Cachora where our cook prepared delicious food as usual, and we camped in the courtyard of a simple guesthouse that even had a warmish shower. I will not beat my record of days with no shower after all...
We also had lemonade freshly made from the fruits of the orange/Lemon tree of the garden.
We heard that a landslide killed 3 mules on the path we would have taken if we had decided to continue to machu picchu. Good decision, Erick... Better safe than sorry...
