From Siem Reap to Bangkok the journey should have taken about 6 hours in total.. ours didnt.. 11hrs.. yes thats right...11 long hours. It wouldnt have been that bad if Bangkok werent so bloody busy all the time. We got dropped off on Khao San Road at 7pm..letting the search begin for accommodation. After asking a few guesthouses how much a room was, we figured it wasnt going to be a cheap place to stay .. ohhh noo £10 for the most basic room we have ever had... We even had to pay for our toilet paper. That night we just quickly had something to eat and headed back to our room as Peter didnt feel to good.
Luckily Peter slept off his headache (after a little help from Paracetamol) so that morning we headed out to see what bangkok was all about... first stop Khao San Road..
After 2 months of Peter missing his best friend Ronald McDonald, they were finally reunited.. Cheeseburger it is then. Lucy didnt really want a burger so she had Chicken Teriyaki and rice. After lunch Lucy wanted to try some shorts on at a stall in the middle of Khao San road, she wasnt to keen on buying them unless she could try them on.. bit different to trying some clothes on in England. She had to stand with a curtain around her in the middle of the street. Peter found this quite funny.
Later that night we were sat in a bar when Lucy shot up and disappeared, 2 minutes later she re-appeared with what happened to be a bag of fried CRICKETS.. we had been wanting to try some for ageeesss, when a lady walked passed with a stall selling a variety of insects. Then the night got weirder and weirder the later it got. Sat in the same bar a couple Matt & Leah spotted us as they were walking passed (this is a couple we have been bumping into since the beginning of Vietnam) they sat down to have a few beers with us.. a few beers led to wanting to go to a ladyboy show together. We decided to ask a tuk-tuk driver to take us to one (Big mistake that was.) It turned out there was no ladyboys to be seen and just thai ladies popping ping pong balls here there and everywhere.. basically a sex show. Pretty random night if we do say so ourselves.
The following day we decided to visit one of the biggest shopping centres in asia .. Siam Paragon.. it was massive and it would be a really good shopping centre if you had money to spend.. unfortunately we didnt. So we just walked around aimlessly. Where we were staying was at the other side of Bangkok from the shopping centre so we tried the cheapest way of transport..a boat that goes along a sewer canal and costs very little.. mind you dont get splashed though.
Our last night in Bangkok we ate at a very cheap restaurant where there was a man doing some magic tricks.. always mind boggling and sometimes its frustrating not knowing how they did the trick. This led to an early night as we were heading to Pak Chong the following morning.
