The sunshine this week had us out all over the island. South to Poipu Beach yesterday and saw the blow hole and a perfect sunset. Finally got up to the north shore and it is as breath taking as we remember it. The other thing that is hard to describe is the smell. An earthy, primordial scent that is a mix of earth and grass and flowers. I smell it no where else in the world. A windy, rainy day. Torrential rain! It just so happened that today was a day I designated as a work day, so I picked the right one. Because there is a 5 hour time change between here and the east coast, my hours were 9 to 1 this morning, for my clients, it was afternoon in NYC and in Dallas. I am fortunate in the kind of work I do, it doesn't matter where we're all located. Everyone had a very satisfying call. Bob made us salads for lunch with local veggies....

In Kauai, finally. Here till January 28. It will be good to be in one place for an extended period of time. Had an unusual view leaving the Big Island - the vog (volcanic smog) cleared long enough to see the top of Mauna Kea. It will be good-bye to Hilo tomorrow morning. Met Katey at the Hilo Coffee house, a cool place where they brew their own Kona and have a museum/farmers market.
