Had a great two days. Yesterday, January 25 we were on the South Shore. Went to the botanical gardens first. We missed the tour time, but no problem, were able to walk around 10 acres of the grounds. Saw an amazing tree that had smooth, multi-colored trunk. Wish I had stopped to ask the name of it - very unusual. Also saw wild ginger, a huge aloe and many un-identifiable flowers. A windy, rainy day. Torrential rain! It just so happened that today was a day I designated as a work day, so I picked the right one. Because there is a 5 hour time change between here and the east coast, my hours were 9 to 1 this morning, for my clients, it was afternoon in NYC and in Dallas. I am fortunate in the kind of work I do, it doesn't matter where we're all located. Everyone had a very satisfying call. Bob made us salads for lunch with local veggies....

In Kauai, finally. Here till January 28. It will be good to be in one place for an extended period of time. Had an unusual view leaving the Big Island - the vog (volcanic smog) cleared long enough to see the top of Mauna Kea. There are 13 observatories up there at 15,000 feet and we could actually see some of them, both from the ground and then, thrillingly, in the air as we flew to Oahu.
