So I did some traveling the other week because we had 1 week for spring break. I went to the beautiful cities of Venice and Cinqueterre in Italy. But I had some annoying train experience. Juliette and I went to Venice by ourselves for 2 night by plane and it was an amazing city. Very pretty and lots of water everywhere (I've been having trouble uploading pics onto the site, but I will try from another computer, so hopefully I will have them up soon). Then we left to go to Cinqueterre which is this amazingly beautiful city in Italy. We were going to meet up with a few friends so we were really excited and ready to leave Venice by train to Cinqueterre. But to get there we had to transfer trains about 3 times. And basically we missed 2 trains, 1 train was delayed so we missed our next train and then missed our stop and had to take a train going backward. In the beginning we were only suppose to take 3 trains to get there but instead we ended up on 7 trains! Also, we were suppose to get to cinqueterre at 3pm and instead got there at 10:30pm. We spend from 8am-10:30pm on a train or at the station or at McDonalds eating and waiting. It was pretty exhausting but we figured things out, so eventually we made it! Juliette and I met up with our roommate Jade and her 2 friends from Davis who came to visit her. I had so much fun with all of them and Cinqueterre is sooo beautiful! I know that you would love it! It actually consists of 5 very small town along the coast
and you are suppose to hike though each of them. So we hiked for about 5
hours in the most perfect weather and walked along the mountains/hills by the ocean. It was just soooo beautiful. Once I finally have my picture up, you will understand what I'm talking about. Also, Cinqueterre is know for its pesto and so for dinner we made pesto pasta, which was so good!
And then we walked to the water at night. It was such a good day. I would have to
say that it was one of the best 24hrs I've ever had. And then the next day we hung out at a small beach and took naps and ate a lot of gelato too.
But then we had so more train issues!!!! Juliette and I were planning on leaving Cinqueterre and take 2 trains to get to the city of Verona. But we were going to take night trains so we could save money and not pay for somewhere to sleep. We successfully made the 1st train and then waited about 1 hour at the station to transfer to the final train. However, this train never came. So we were stuck at the Genova train station at 2am. We saw that there was a train going to Rome at 2:30am so we decided to just skip Verona and go back home to Rome. And then the train ticket people were just being stupid and mean but we finally got on and went back to Rome. It was tiring but everything worked out and it's actually kind of funny. It was annoying to go through all of that but it wasn't a tramidic experience or anything, but Juliette was almost crying. After about 5 days of traveling it was nice coming back home to Rome. I like calling Rome home! It is so amazing that I am living in one of the greatest cities in the world. Through my experience, I've met so many people who have traveled and backpacked around Europe. Everyone I've talked to say that the 2 best cities in Europe are Rome and Paris. I really home that someday in the future I will be able to come back to this city! I just love Italy so much. My Italian still isnt very good, but good enough I guess. I want to continue taking Italian courses when I get back to Santa Barbara. Ok well I have to work on some papers and HW now. Bye! xoxo
