So after leaving Melbourne to take the ridiculously scenic Great Ocean Road tour... a hand chiselled 380km road hugging the scenic coastlines, right around whale watching season ovr 2 days i crossed the border from Victoria into South Australia and arrived in Adelaide! Hihglights on the way were undoubtably the 12 Apostles (or around 8 which were still standing), a naturally wave carved collection of limestone sculptures approx 100m out into the ocean (on the other side lying antarctica), london bridge and nibblin some gummy shark in Apollo Bay! We went kangeroo hunting at dusk, saw my first koalas in the wild, leaped into waterfalls and hit the grampians for some more scenery! The driest state in donw under was livin up to its name, with browns, greys and barron landscapes, passing some skeletal looking sheep practically grazing on mud!
Arrived in Adelaide, a truly large country town feel to it and rented a car for 2days with a swiss guy, a taiwanese guy and a french girl and drove down to the southern coast, climbed the Bluff, went to Cape Jervis and saw Kangeroo Island, only to discover the ferry was fully booked and the most expensive ferry per m travelled in the world, headed up to Carrickalinga for a sunset beach walk and then up to Barossa Valley, home of Jacob's Creek for a full day of Wine tasting and a lot of free sampling in the open cellars!
The next day was the physio interview, the whole reason i'd left melbourne in the first place so early doors i went to a job different job interview for mathemagic computer tutor before getting polished for the interview! Ironically got ready for the Hiton in a dodgey hostel bathroom into some 'italian' threads i'd bought from Victoria market and lugged my backpack, bodyboard and holdall into the fancy foyet of the Hilton, Adelaide!
Despite a few twists, ended up being offered a 3 month trial for the assistant physio role! I will be working under the head physio, travelling all over Europe with the team, providing any treatment required by the exhibition football team! Alot of the players are being scouted from South America for their samba style quick feet so i may even pick up a few tricks alng the way! Can't wait to start in Jan '08!
