So afte Paulo Reynaldo joined me to check out the must see sights in Adelaide (covered in a day!!!) we skipped on board the greyhound destined for the underground metropolis of Coober Pedy!
Afetr a 6pm-5.30am bus journey we rolled out amongst a swarm of shoeless aberiginals and settled into our underground accomodation! Did a little tour checking out the 65% of the population's underground pads with a constant circulation creating an internal temperature of 21-25 degrees inside when temperatures outside can reach up to 58 degrees in the summer and 65 degrees beside the 'inland sea' which unsurprisingly has not a drop of water! Checked out the dingo fence, an underground church, went noodling for opals and found some remnants and settled back into the hostel to watch Priscilla Queen of the Desert where we'd visited the filmset of earlier!
Picked up a square of astro turf and played a few holes on the desert golf course, bogeyed the 1st par 3, double bogeyed the 2nd and pared the 3rd after raking the greens to create a soil surface which was puttable! No joke... its affiliated with St Andrews!
