We have just spent a very hectic few days here, our primary aim was to see the Rotary eye project which gave us a very busy but enjoyable schedule.
Our hosts gave us a very warm welcome and we were amazed by how much hard work they do. They are a truly dedicated group of Rotarians with Service Above Self being very much their ethos.
We spent our third day on a tour of this great city and had a very good guide who showed us many aspects of the life here.
We saw the college street with all its book stalls and went to the College Street coffee house. This was very much a place where all the academics meet to discuss the world.
We took a little detour to visit the the tomb of Mother Theresa and then to one of the orphanages. The children were very well cared for but I found it very difficult when one little boy seemed to adopt me and wanted me to pick him up. Obviously they would all like to found homes and I hope eventually this will happen for them, they were such happy little souls.
It is extremely hot here at the moment and we are grateful of the airconditioning at times.
