We have just spent an incredible 12 days touring China. I say touring but we have barely scratched the surface. This is a vast country with so much to see.
We started with three nights in Beijing and enjoyed a great day trip to the Great Wall which lived up to our expectations. We even used a tobboggan to get back down to the car park which saved us a half hour walk and therefore more time on the wall.
We did all the usual sites in Beijing itself ( that is what could be fitted into the time we had there). John experienced eating snake but I just could not bring myself to try any.
After Beijing we flew to Xian where we were able to visit the terracotta warriers, a truly amazing find by farmers digging a well and quite an acheivement in its time. The warriors all had individual facial features.
From Xian we flew to Chongqing to catch the boat to cruise down the three gorges to one of todays great acheivements a dam that has the highest capacity in the world and then through a series of shiplocks, to the lower stretch of China's longest river the Yangtze,
We then disembarked from our ship Victoria Rose and flew on to Shanghai where we enjoyed more sightseeing of this vibrant city.
