Sunday 28th
We are staying at Main beach, which is a 30min walk into Surfers Paradise (but was the closest campsite). After parking up we walked into Surfers and OMG we have never seen so many six packs and half naked women walking around in our lives - it was so touristy and tacky. Danny was intimidated by the flat stomaches and Michelle made sure she kept her top on! We went on the beach and generally chilled out before having a McDonalds (we thought we might as well, we are on holiday).
The next day we hired surf boards (they dont call it surfers paradise for nothing), Michelle couldnt even carry the board as the beginners boards are a bit bigger than usual (so didnt look that cool dragging in accross the sand). The water was freezing and the waves were really intense and frequent. It was really hard work swimming away from the shore and the waves didnt give us a chance to recover once we had been thrown off.
Michelle had borrowed a rash vest but Danny thought he was too cool - by the end he had to wear Michelles top as he looked like he had been rubbing his chest with a cheesegrater (he now has scabby nipples). Danny managed to stand up a few times and looked very cool. Michelle didnt manage to stand but did ride the waves on her tummy (it felt as though i was travelling about 30mph the waves were that strong).
While Danny was rubbing his chest Michelle thought she`d try and show off so went in the sea on her own - all of a sudden a weird mist came over the coast and she could hardly see anyone on the beach. Danny said it looked really good as though I was the only person in the sea ( we didnt have the camera as we didnt want to leave it on the beach). The next day the fog was actually front page news (must have been a slow news day).
We got hit by our boards repeatedly and were knackered after fighting with the waves so after 2 hours we were ready to hand them back.
Tues 30th
Michelle felt the effects from sufing this morining and could hardly move her arms, so we just went by the pool and tried to top up the tans as it was boiling. That evening we went for a drink and Danny had 2 pints and was tipsy (after not drinking for so long his tolerence is down - think hes worried about meeting up with Helen and Rob).
Wed 1st Oct
Today we went to Dreamworld (a theme park down on the Gold Coast), we had pre-bought our tickets so were able to join a shorter Queue. The women ushered us around a group and on the other side people had wrist bands. We thought these were to show we had paid so stuck out our arms. Once we were through we realsied they were actually bands that allowed us to move between the theme park and the waterpark next door - HIGH FIVE. The rides at the park were good and we were also able to enjoy the waterpark as an added bonus so we were pleased. Danny was quite scared about one ride in particular the Giant Drop but had to go on it as he wouldnt be able to take the flack from Michelle if he didnt.
Next stop Spingwood National Park.
