G'day from Brisbane everyone!
After some madcap airport adventures, Sharon and I have finally joined up and are ready to share this dream we had 20-some years ago.
My flight was delayed due to storms in Melbourne messing with baggage handling. (We sat at the gate after boarding for an hour) But once in the air we were offered a complimentary glass of beer or wine which I promptly accepted. Ordering my third Aussie brew, a Victoria Bitter, which is not at all bitter. At least I don't think so. I had a nice chat with two ladies sitting next to me. One older and the other younger. Both were extremely nice and chatted about travel after asking about my journeys in Australia.
Sharon's flight was delayed taking off in LA due to a "slippery patch" of something on the runway which did not allow the plane to disengage from the gate. So needless to say upon arriving in Sydney and needing to go through Immigration and Customs, she missed her connecting flight to Brisbane, which would have had her arriving 3 hours before me. As it was, we likely passed in the airport baggage claim.
After a whirlwind shuttle bus tour of the city of Brisbane, I was finally dropped at the Conrad Treasury (you can check it out at here at http://conradhotels1.hilton.com/en/ch/hotels/photoTour.do?ctyhocn=BNEHCCI ). Sharon came through the door about 15 minutes later. Needless to say we were both very happy to see one another.
Tomorrow we plan to visit Australia Zoo, home of the world famous Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter (may he rest in peace). Hopefully we will have more photos to publish to keep you rabid readers fortified.
Cheers all.
