Our hotel last night was in the Thermal water area of Pamukkale. It was not the fanciest of hotels and they did not supply drinking water and although we had a kettle and cups in our room it cost 8 Turkish Lira for a T bag!
The pool and bar area however was beautiful. The thermal pools within the hotel complex had a outdoor pools all fed from Thermal Springs . The hottest was 44C down to 34C . Way too hot for us so we opted for the beautiful outdoor pool.
A swim is so refreshing after a very hot day where it was still 38C at 6pm. Dinner is going to be a fight as there are over 1000 people staying in this hotel.the meals are buffet so if you don't get in early you tend to have slim pickings.
It's such a lovely night, still very warm so we perch up at the bar for a beer. Glenn has his first taste of Raki , the Turks drink of choice. It's taken as a shot over ice and followed by water if you wish. Very similar in taste to Ouzo and 45% alc content. Not sure that he loved it but as it was a gift from the bar manager he downed it in one gulp!
We sat with a few of our fellow travelers to watch the belly dancer at 9.30. Little did we know that we would become part of the show! We can both now add belly dancing to the list of things we have done, but maybe should not have! This morning before breakfast we saw the photographic evidence of our efforts and we are certainly not giving up our day jobs although Glenn did enjoy placing his 5lira tip neatly into the hip band of her costume.
