G'Day!
I took the day off school to do a day trip yesterday up to the Pinnacles Desert. The Pinnacles are about 2 1/2 hours north of Perth so it was a pretty good drive.
We started at Cavarsham Wildlife park where we got the behind the scenes tour on how they take care of animals. The park was closed so it was pretty neat to see everything. We got to check out the koalas and wombats and then feed the kangaroos. I even got to see a baby joey in the pouch. I guess this is really rare!
We then headed for lunch and the desert. The Pinnacles were really neat! There were heeps of them and in all different shapes and sizes. They were formed thousands of years ago when lightening struck sand and melted it together. The lose sand then blew away leaving these towers.
AFter we had time to explore, we left for the southern part of the desert where we went sandboarding and off-roading. It mostly was alot of work to get up, just to have a 5 second ride down. STill something to check off my list.
We then headed back to Perth and home. It was a great day! Today we are all meeting at one of the other student's houses for a beach party. Hopefully it will stay sunny and warm. Tomorrow some last minute shopping Fremantle and then possibly the zoo followed by packing. I have to start organzing all my junk considering I leave for Alice Springs in less than a week!
Hope all is going well back in MI!
