G'Day Mates!
The trip is still going wonderful! I have really adjusted to this aussie lifestyle. It will be hard to return to Michigan when I can't do my lesson plans lying on the beach watching the surfers. Sometimes I feel as though I have been living here forever.
Swimming with the dolphins was amazing. We took a boat out into the ocean and waited until they heard dolphins. We then chased them and hopped in the water when we got close. It was so cool having them swim around us.
After the dolphin outing a group of us walked around downtown Perth. It is such a cute city with street performers and lots of good shopping. Sunday was spent laying on the beach, once again.
This weekend will be a winery tour around Swan Valley. This is probably 5 minutes from where I am living, so not to bad of a drive. Ironically, we are taking a school bus from one of the local schools. This fits right in with the beer and wine during lunch on Fridays.
I really have been enjoying my family and my school placement. It is totally different than at home, but I guess that is why I came here. It is still hard to understand them when they are talking fast or in a group, but I am getting the hang of the lingo. The girls keep me busy at home- there is definitely not a quiet moment!
The CMU group has mastered the art of public transportation and even has found the hot spots at night. The only problem is the prices- $30 for a Long Island Ice Tea.
Well, I must go. The girls are at field hockey training so I have to savor the silence. Thinking of everyone!
