So on leaving Townsville we arrived at Airlie Beach where we had to organise and book out sailing and Fraser island package. We found a cheap good travel agency and booked our next few days sailing away on the ocen to the Whitsundays. Airlie Beach is surrounded by 74 beautiful islands and we booked a 3 day 2 night adventure on a sailing boat around a few of them. The islands are beautiful with pure white sand what squeaks when you walk on it and pure clean blue sea water. So (wednesday 10th September) we headed out to sea leaving on an sailing boat called Broomstick. There were 23 people and 3 members of staff. There was a fantastic group of us and we all hit it off well with people from all different countries sitting down each night for a few beers and giggles. The food on the boat was amaing we didnt go hungry. It was early mornings which started at 6am for breakfast but they wanted us to get as much time as possible doing things. So we set off sailing and headed for the Whitehaven beach which was an amazing beach. It was a beautiful hot day and not many people on the beach so we hopped into our wet suits and went for a paddle in the water to find if you stood still the Sting Rays would come up close to you. It was a postcard picture when looking onto the beach. Its a protected area so there isnt any hotels or anything just pure beach for miles. After getting picked up from the boat again we went snorkling which was AMAZING. Looking at the different colours in the reef and the fasinating fish you were swimming through. We loved it and was a hightlight to this sailing trip(and the fact megan blocked the toliet!!the girl has to sick sometimes!!). The different colours under the water was breath taking. After getting back on Broomstick we had dinner and watched the sunset across the water from the deck of the boat. Perfect ending to a perfect day.The next morning we were up early again and ready to sail back to shore. We saw whales on the way back which was a great suprise. We arrive back to Airlie Beach and said our goodbyes to the great friends we had made over the past 3 days and we all met up that evening for a drink in the bar beneth our hostel.
