This weekend was a whirlwind. Thursday I went to the Luxembourg gardens (a picturesque fall day), St Sulpice (made more known by the Da Vinci Code), the Pantheon which I'm not sure what it is supposed to be and I couldn't go inside because the workers or employees or somebody was on strike. It's strike season here in Paris. Next week is supposed to be a pretty long strike that stops all public transportation..just in time for my family to arrive yes! Friday I went to the Centre Pompidou which is a modern art museum and a library. The art I saw was very unique and definitely needed explanations. Then I had to go to the Grand Palais for one of my classes. We saw the Gustave Courbet exhibit which was pretty cool but a bit boring after a while. For dinner we went to this place called "Breakfast In America". Yes, I had chocolate chip pancakes for dinner on Friday. It was great. I've missed American food so much that it was so exciting to find this place. I went to the Louvre afterward which I still haven't seen nearly enough of! Saturday I went on a trip with my school to this town called Provins. It's about an hour and a half from Paris and is from the MIddle Ages. The town has a moat and everything. It was really cool cause everything is preserved from the 11th century. The only downside was that it was super windy and icy/raining. And today the library I needed to go to for a class was closed so I wandered around and went to the Picasso museum. Needless to say I'm pretty tired from this weekend but I'm glad I got to check some things off of my list of places I want to see before I leave Paris :-)
Oh and I forgot to add in my last blog that the first song I heard when I was in Italy, sitting down in my first Italian restaurant, about to enjoy some pasta, was Oh Holy Night by Mariah Carey. Followed by an entire Mariah Carey album...
