Matthew & Amy On Tour
Hey Everyone back home
We are still having an awesome time in Thailand. In the last couple of weeks we have been mainly on the Thai islands of Koh Tao and we are now in Ko Phangan.
Koh Tao was meant to be a chilled out week where we did nothing but laze on the beach, but sadly that was not the case. We both fell in love with scuba diving so we both spent 6 days diving. It has been awesome. Amy completed her padi open water course and then did her advanced training. Matt did his advanced open water course. We have both done 9 dives in the sea and have dived down to 30 meteres which was awesome.
We Saw loads of stunning fish and some beautiful coral on the sea bed. Saw a turtle and a sea snake (which could kill you instantly if it bit you). saw loads of sharks and saw a whale shark which is the biggest fish in the sea. It was crazy, we were told before the dive that there would be a 1% chance that we would see a whale shark and so we should not get our hopes up. However in the last 10 mins of the dive, a whale shark was swimming about 2 meteres from both of us. It was the most exhilirating experience ever and we will never forget it. It was only about 6 meters long (they grow up to 40 meters) but it was still massive. It was also weird breathing under water. We had a big air tank on our backs so we were able to do dives under water for about 40 mins each time
We Have finished the dives now, so we can finally see some sun. Neither of us have seen the sun in the last couple of weeks as we have spent half of the day diving in the sea with the full scuba diving gear on and the rest of the day we have spent in the classroom doing the theory part of the course (felt like we were back at university).
We are on Koh Phangan now and have spent the last 4 days in Thong Nai Pan Yai which was gorgeous. The beaches were stunning and were almost deserted and the sea was krystal clear. We have come to this island with a group of people that we have met on the diving course so there is about 11 of us in total. They are all english so it has been great partying with them. The cocktails over here are leathal, they just blow your head off !!
The only downfall about the islands is the internet connection (its crap), the mosquitos (they have bitten us both to death) and the weather. Neither of us have tanned much yet as it has been cloudy all week (the thai monsoon season starts at the end of this month, so not sure how much sun we will see). Howver it is still boiling so its never cold here.
We are in Hat Rin for the next couple of days which is the party capital of Ko Phangan (its where the legendary full moon parties are held). We arrived today and it feels a bit like Tenerife as its very commercialised but it is supposed to be a good night out, so we are having a mad one tonight.
We are off to Ko Samui tomorrow to see what that island is like, so hopefully it should be fun. Will update the journal soon with all the pics we have.
Hope everyone back home in england and wales are well. Let us know how you are doing, will be great to here from you all.
Lots of love
