Hello from Queensland!
Today we flew up to Cairns and so really ends out time in Sydney! We are still going back but only for a couple of days over Xmas - from now on we are touring the East Coast until Xmas Eve.
So for an update on our last few weeks in Sydney - I finished my job which I was quite happy about.. it was starting to send me insane - i have never experienced so many calls to deal with in 1 day. Glad its over really - It did the job however and I saved $1000 towards the Coast trip so its all good!
The last few weeks in Sydney we did lots of touristy things while we had the chance. I went to Sydney Wildlife Centre and saw the likes of Kangaroos, Kaolas, big spiders etc.. it was very cool - out of all the most deadly animals in the world - most are right here in OZ. They are beautiful though! Beautiful but deadly! I also went to the Sydney Aquarium which was very impressive - where you can walk in a glass tunnel underneath sharks, Turtles etc.. definately got me excited for Snorkelling in the Barrier Reef (We we have just booked to do in 2 days time hurrah!! - Very Excited!),
We also did a Speedboat tour around the Opera House and Harbour which was ace - we got very wet though - it was such a good way to see the famous sights, speeding round the waters with music blaring out and doing 180 degree turns at high speed. FUN!
Last week we went up to the Blue Mountains which were pretty amazing - some stunning views. The walks we did were quite tough - only due to the insane amount of steps you had to climb - but once you reached the look out points in was totally worth it. We stayed in a little house which Maddie's (Gavin's housemate) parents own - it was so cool - a real cosy little cottage which is just what we needed up in the freezing mountains - it even started snowing at 1 point. We stayed in Blackheath and did our walks around Katoomba - we saw the famous Three Sisters rocks and went on the steepest train in the world which i wasnt so sure about - it was bleedin steep! We had a couple of good nights up in the mountains also - 1 night in particular where we all had the giggles after a couple of drinks and were pretty much on the floor all night laughing. So much so I had stomach cramps the next day.
The other day we went with Elias in his car and did a mini tour of some of the northern beaches - including Palm Beach again (Home & Away). It was quite a cold day but we still had fun on the beaches. They really are very beautiful beaches and there are just many of them to be found!
We have seen a couple of shows as well recently - we went to see a play at Darlinghurst Theatre which was a comedy which was fairly rude but also very funny so that was great - then on Sunday me, Liz and Kate went to watch Jimeoin on Ice at the Opera House - he is a stand up comedian from Ireland - he was ok - not the best. The woman next to us was in hysterics however and I spent all my time laughing at her more than anything.
Mark left yesterday back to reality and coldness of the UK - we had a party at Gavins house the night before which we all decided had to have a theme so it was'Lesbian' themed. I'm sure there will be many pictures of me on facebook already as Martha (my lesbian character!). It was a very funny night. The next day we had a tearful goodbye and then caught some sun in the park and waved at what we thought was Marks plane.
We flew out of Sydney at 7.30am this morning (the views as you leave Sydney are so cool!) and got to Cairns early this morning. It kind of feels like we are back in Fiji again - the climate is so hot and humid. Im looking forward to the next 3 weeks as we have lots planed. We are quite worried as we are actually running out of money as the days go by now so we are on a bread and ham and bananna and water diet for a while. Its all worth it though.
I will update again after we have finshed the East Coast when it will then be Christmas - So happy Early Xmas to everyone now! Can I just say it doesnt feel even slightly Christmasy here - they have decorations up and stuff but they dont seem to be as obvious as at home and obviously the weather doesnt help - its very weird! Im still having a roast on Xmas day though - I have already planned it all in my head!
Bye x
