Hello,
I now have a new job and today its fairly quiet so I thought - why not write another blog? I don't know if there is much to update since my last blog a few weeks ago but ah well, i'm bored!
So yes I now have a nice little job which is full time 9-5 up until around xmas time. Its just what I need really as over the next few weeks I want to save up for my east coast trip and im trying not to use my english bank accounts at all until I leave Australia. So hopefully this will pay for all of it! Its working for a magazine subscription company and I am just dealing with all the xmas orders that are coming in. Its not bad, quite relaxed but the layout is scarily similar to Ofsted - the same hot taps, the same cisco phones, they even decorate the office like Ofsted! Weird.
Can i just say also - that people on the phones seem to love my accent! Just a minute ago a man was like - 'Thats a lovely Pommy accent you have there!' and this woman earlier (who i think was a bit mad) said 'Do i detect a north England accent there? I said yes and then when I told her where I was from she screamed in excitement as she has family in Manchester and then she screamed again when I told her I went to Uni in Preston as she has family there as well. She told me to go and find this beach while i'm here with ten foot waves and try surfing.. hmm - i think not.
Anyway...
Me & Kate had a Congleton night the other night. It was loads of fun. Only people from Congleton were allowed to attend. Georgie it would have been right up your street if you had been here.. or should I say right up your alley. As thats where the night began. We sat in a Sydney alley and had some wine and talked about all things Congleton.. like Mossley, Henshall Hall, Waggs Road, Westlands High School, Congleton Oatcake shop, H Tec video.. and so on. We proceeded to have a fair few wines and phone home to our mothers.. I cant really remember what we said. Probably a good thing really.
It was Liz's birthday last week. Me, Mark and Kate got her a day ticket to Luna Park and a voucher for a picnic under the Harbour Bridge looking out onto the Opera House. It was ace. The day before, while Liz was at work, me and Mark decorated the flat with balloons and banners & put out party food for when she returned. We then had a mini party joined by Liz's Indian friend from work called Nickel and Kates Taiwanese friend called Kade and later joined by Gavin. It was a very strange bunch of people. We had a good night. Me and Kate charged at each other like Stags and fell to the floor. It was the next day we went to Luna Park and we went on loads of rides including this upside down 1 where all of Kates money fell out of her pocket. The funniest thing from that day however was the present that Nickel gave Liz - a Guns & Roses Mug. Its so good that she didnt open it in front of him as we were all rolling round laughing about it for hours. Its such a random gift to get someone you dont really know. I dont even think she likes Gun & Roses particularly.
Not much else to report. The weather has been weird recently - during the week its not too warm and a bit cloudy and then come the weekend its sunny and about 26-30 degrees! Works out good really and we have hit the pool a few times at the weekend and done a bit of sychronised swimming and bombing.
Right - lunch time... x x
