G'day mates!
Yes you can probably tell from my amazing accent that we are now in Australia. We flew into Melbourne last week and spent a few days there in St Kilda which was really cool - lots of nice shops and cafes etc. I really liked Melbourne - it was very european looking with lots of different types of food everywhere and the best cake shops i've ever seen.. mmmm! Cake.
While we were here we did the boring stuff like seting up bank accounts and getting an Oz sim card and registering for tax numbers etc all thrilling! But we did manage to have a good luck around the city and i visited the art gallery and museum and the centre of moving image which was brill! We managed to have 1 night out here also which was good - we went to a electro night which was good apart from the DJ was a bit too into his mixing and only played about 20 seconds of each song. By the way are sneaky sound system big in the UK? They are from Sydney and are massive over here - they are really good. Im very much out of the loop with whats going on back at home now.
Anyway, me and Mark got an overnight bus to Sydney as we were short on the old dosh and needed jobs asap. It took 12 hours to get to Sydney, when we got there we met Marks mate Gavin who kindly put us up for a few days while we found our feet. The first couple of days we went on walks - down to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge and also to Coogee and Bondi beaches which were so nice. Cant wait for the weather to get a bit warmer so can use them properly!
We also managed to find a little place for us to live - its a cross between a hostel and a flat - we have everything of our own apart from their is a big communal kitchen downstairs. It does the job and is cheap between us all so we're happy!
The other night we went to an indie night which was really good and I was being very well behaved and went to the toilet and came out and the bouncer said - 'Can you leave please' - i asked why and he said the manager had seen me being sick and disruptive in the toilets - i pleaded my innocence and said he had got the wrong person but he was having none of it and threw me out and wouldnt even let me tell the others! So i got rage and told him what i thought then wandered the streets of Sydney trying to find my way back! I wasnt happy but then i found a place that sold PIE with mash AND gravy and all of a sudden things seemed good and i was actually glad the stupid bouncer threw me out!
Anyway I hope that all other nights arent as eventful!
Yesterday I went to Palm Beach which is where they film Home & Away - Summer Bay... Closer each day... Home and Away!! Yes. To be honest i didnt really recognise it (probably as i dont watch H&A) but it was a really nice beach and I had an ice cream from the Surf Club. Then I had a sit down and drew in the sand. The only people I would have recognised would be Alf, Irene and Sally.. but none of them were there.. in fact no one was there at all, the beach was deserted - but that made it quite cool.
Well today i manged to get myself some work - its just boring office work and its full time so im thinking i'll do it for the next 3-4 weeks to save some money then I wont have to panic so much! On the way home I got on a train and failed to notice it was empty and then when it failed to stop at any stops I started to wonder - and then a voice boomed from the ceiling - 'To the 1 passenger on the train - this train does not stop anywhere. Please remain seated and we will soon go back into the city where you can get off!' So i sat there feeling rather silly and went into a train storage area then went all the way back into the city before getting my actual train back again. Oops.
Right im going back into the city now - Jenny and Kate (who we met in Fiji and have followed around a day later ever since - not intentionally but its just as we all booked the same exact route) - they are leaving to go up the coast tomorrow so im going to say bye to them. Then I might have an early night as its day 1 of the job tomorrow and back to the real world for a while!
