Mary's Travels
We left the house at 4:00am and slept in the car while Jean drove us to Collioure. I can't say that I slept too much, but the ride wasn't bad at all. Gorgeous scenery, an we stopped at a really cool bridge. We arrived at about noon and walked 5 minutes into the center of town to get some pizzas and brought them back to Jean's apartment. Jean and his siblings inherited their apartments, and his sister is out of town, and she let Claire and I stay in hers. It's very cool to have our own little place so close to everything, and Jean is right upstairs. After lunch, Claire and I settled down in our apartment and then went to the beach. It was a rocky beach, but not like Nice. The rocks were much smaller and easier to maneuver. We read a magazine, then tried to get in the water, but it was so cold. So we laid out in the 90° weather. It's nice to finally have summer weather. After a few hours, we decided to head home. We ran into Gale, one of Claire's friends, and she was really nice and said we'd meet up tomorrow. On the way home we went to the grocery store to get yogurt and fruit we ate our treats when we got home as a way to cool down. Just when we were getting hungry again, Jean called us up for dinner. We started with dried ham and cantaloupe, then moved onto the main course of lamb. It was all different for me, but very very good. For dessert we had cherries and ice cream candy bars. Wow. So good. After that we went back down to our place and watched a bit of TV and went to bed early- we were exhausted.
