Mary's Travels
We got up very tired after a voluntary late night. We started off to the Chateau des Beaux de Provence. It had the most amazing views! We rock climbed, explored, and saw a catapult shot. It was crazy hot today too. At about noon, we left for fencing and calligraphy lessons in Arles. But first, we had lunch and explored a little. The classes were both very fun, but we were obviously amateurs. We went back to Avignon for mass in a small stone church. Afterwards, we went to dinner, where our friend Mark was challenged by the waiter to eat the rest of his meal in two minutes. He did it, and the waiter was so pleased that he said he'd bring him a glass of wine. He brought it in a shot glass (the smallest one). This was Mark's first meal with wine. Too funny. Next, we walked up the Main Street of Avignon to see where the popes fled during the Great Schism of the fourteenth century. Huge walls surround the city to protect this palace, so getting out was tricky, but we wanted to go to the Ferris wheel right outside of the wall. We got awesome views of Avignon at 11pm. We returned and had to start packing for Nice tomorrow :)
