Last Day in London and we've had a good day!! Unfortunately we couldn't see the bells at Plaistow as planned as no one was there to take me up the tower as they are there only Wednesday and Thursday - however like the British we soldiered on.
We were very lucky to get to Buckingham Palace in time to view the full changing of the Guard ceremony. Got some great pictures which we will share later. Ruth got flirty with the local Constabulary who kindly took the picture attached of us at the fountain in front of the Palace. Think it may be the Queen Victoria fountain/statue. Mum, Aunty Peg or George will correct me I'm sure! Lol
Following all that pomp and ceremony we walked up Birdcage walk alongside St James Park towards Westminster and the Westminster Bridge. Crossing the Thames over the Bridge, we headed to the London Eye for a final look (for now) of a city we do love. The Eye is fantastic and if you haven't done it make sure you do it on your next visit! After that we had a lunch of REAL fish and chips then trekked back into the city before getting the 148 bus back to Notting Hill Gate.
As we walked back from the bus stop to the hotel the sun was shining and as we walked past the Prince Edward Pub we decided to join all the workers for a pint on the sidewalk - I'm getting very British Mum - you would be proud haha.
Tomorrow we drive north to Edinburgh and spend the next week around Scotland. The driving should be fun I hope! I am hoping I don't cause too many international incidents as I rip up the Motorways. Be ready for what could be some very eventful blogs from now!
