The start of our 3rd full day in the UK and yes we have been a little slack putting this down as a blog - however I am at it now!
We have been busy sight seeing and generally being tourists. This is Ruth's first visit of more than a day in London so I have tried to get around a few places that she hasn't been to as well as enjoying the cultural side of the city! Yes I do have an "arty" side!! On Friday night we went to the West End production of The Lion King, which even by my reckoning was brilliant! Prior to the show we sat in the "beer garden" ( English for "the sidewalk") of the Wellington Pub with hundreds of other idiots enjoying a Friday evening drink in windy arctic conditions. But hey - it was Friday - Springtime - the sun shone ever so sparingly so we did what the locals do
Saturday was a day for St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London. Spent hours at both and enjoyed. We then did the Thames river cruise down to Westminster and walked up to Big Ben before strolling along Whitehall up to Trafalgar Square and an hour or so looking at the artwork from the Tudor and Stuart eras at the national portrait gallery. See I told you all I have kulcha somewhere in me! We then did some silly pics on the mall looking down towards Buckingham Palace and in front of the arch before bussing back to our Notting Hill hotel. Had a nice Spanish Tapas Dinner in the Main Street before going back to our room to watch Eurovision on the telly. More culture!!
Today (Sunday) we're off to Lords Cricket Ground and museum where I will be trying to nick the Ashes back! Then ..... If the weather is better - I may try and take Ruth to the BBC Open Air concert series at Trafalgar Square tonight with the London Symphony Orchestra - (how much culture do I possess ?) - before looking to see if there's a rock concert on somewhere!!!
I'm sure there's plenty of other stuff to do yet! 2 more days here until we rent the car and head to Scotland - this could be fun!! Will try and add a few pictures when I can as well.
