After a night on the beer watching football, the next day we thought we would do the tourist thing, although with a hangover, so a bit of sightseeing was in order.
Off we went in taxi's to the war museum to look at some Vietnam history. Apparently it was a bit busy round here in the late 60's and early 70's with an altercation. There was a lot of nasty stuff going on and the museum gave a good view from a locals point of view. The entrance fee was 15'000d, or about 50p in old money. To be honest I thought it was undervalued but they need to cater for all types.
From there it was a short walk to the Reunification Palace, which cost 30'000d so about £1.00. This place was full of history but in a nutshell, it was a place full of rooms with lots of tables and chairs where meetings took place. No wonder the bloody war dragged on for years. Both are really worth a visit though and much was learnt from them.
Back to the hotel, washed, changed and out again for drinks and dinner. Again we piled into taxi's and headed off to the Elbow Bar. After drinks and a bit of food we were all horrified to get the bill showing a staggering 3'9million dong. Once we work this out, it worked out to be £14 pp...........ridiculous.
After that, back to the hotel to pack again for our fourth flight, this time jeting off to the north, Hanoi. If you have read this from the start of our trip, our history with flights is a little checkered. See you in Hanoi.......possibly!
