Hotel Nikko is very nice and clean. Something that you would expect from a 5 star gaff. Saying that...and most importantly its cheap . The toilets are like something out of the Starship Enterprise with automatic doors in the toilets without the swush making noise. Ian did comment that the toilet is like having a front and back door bidet. But this is a seriously nice hotel at £60 pn to chill for a couple of days.
Next up was the guided city tour on scooters. Eight scooters riden by eight local vietnamese local girls with us portly westerns as passengers. After the issues with the flight and the taxi crash earlier, we were all filled with antrepidation to what was going to happen.
The girls turned up and all introduced themselves to us. They were all very pleasent, their English was good also. My driver Trang was 22 and very informative. She was also teaching me basic phrases in vietnamese. These i forgot in an instant. The idea of the tour was to travel through the several districts of HCMC tasting local food and drink. Whizzing through the streets was a little alarming at first but we all soon got to grips with the traffic and the rules of the road.....yeah right, what rules. As we stopped off at various food outlets, no kfc more kfd, we realised that some of the dishes were not the norm. For instance, fried frog and embryo of a duck to name two. All the blokes took part and with no ill effects. I was going to be ok anyway as i was already dosed up with emodium. On the whole we had a great night and gladly, nobody got hurt or puked
